I haven't posted an entry in almost 12 months. Last year, I returned to Korean and spent three months writing comics about teaching English to little kids. That got boring. Then came a spring and summer of portrait work, none of which was posted on this blog. None the less, progress was made.
Sometime last fall, I met Beau Walder, a graphic designing Australian guy, around seven in the morning after a night of drinking bourbon in Seoul. We met for coffee a few days later. He shared some ideas with me, one of which was a plan to create a coupon based entertainment and travel guide for all the restaurants, bars, cafes and clubs in Itaewon.
He threw down his business and design skills and I contributed my illustration skills and writing. Six months later, the first "ITW mini-mag" (ITW = Itaewon) was born. 10,000 copies were distributed to restaurants, bars and convenience stores. Travelers, locals and expats snatched them up all over the place.
This is only the beginning of the magazine. The April edition will be hitting the streets in a week. We're now networking with businesses who are interested in advertising their company in our super sweet mag. We're also collecting interesting people, places and events who wish to have their stories printed.
Game on, players.
